Thanksgiving Pairing Suggestions

As we move into the holiday season, I would like to suggest some wine pairings for your table to help elevate your holiday offerings to new heights. Heroes don’t always wear capes- sometimes they just have the right wine. We can help you to be the Hero at your party!

To start, our Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect opener for the holiday meal. Its bright acidity and citrus-driven aromatics refresh the palate and pair beautifully with turkey breast, herb stuffing, and roasted vegetables. It also shines alongside tangy cranberry sauce. If you have a charcuterie plate for hors d'oeuvres, this wine will shine.

As the meal progresses into the mains, our Avenencia BDX-blend takes center stage. With layers of dark fruit, spice, and a smooth, velvety finish due to aging in neutral oak, it complements juicy dark turkey meat and gravy-laden stuffing. Avenencia is a wine of depth and warmth, a perfect complement to the main course.

Now is a good time to pause, and explore another wine that might surprise your guests at the table, and that is our Rosé. Not a traditional Rosé, it is made as a saignée blend of Cabernet Franc, Sagrantino, Aglianico, and Barbera, which offers a vibrant, food-friendly option. This wine has layered notes of strawberry, pomegranate, and subtle spice, and it pairs beautifully with charcuterie boards, roasted squash, and even… turkey! In many ways, it is a bridge between the Sauvignon Blanc and the heartier Avenencia.

To finish up the meal, may I suggest our 2024 Viognier. This aromatic white showcases the Chelan AVA, with its lush stone fruit and floral notes, is a natural match for pumpkin pie, apple crisp, or spiced pear tart. Its fruit-forward character enhances the sweetness of dessert while its freshness keeps the pairing from becoming too heavy. Although this wine was inspired by the wines of Condrieu, it is a 100% manifestation of what the Chelan AVA can produce.

Wine is more than a beverage; it’s a bridge between food, tradition, and the joy of gathering. This holiday season, we invite you to bring La Garza wines to your table and let them be part of your holiday celebration.

Salud!
Richard, Winemaker
